Facilitated sessions of the online course: “Beyond Silicon Valley: Growing Entrepreneurship in Transitioning Economies”

CEFE Macedonia’s member abd trainer, Jovan Stalevski, during November 2014 was facilitator of meet ups within the on-line course: “Beyond Silicon Valley: Growing Entrepreneurship in Transitioning Economies”, held at the American Corner Bitola. This massive open online course was offered on the Coursera platform: https://www.coursera.org/course/entpecon and was taught by Professor Michael Goldberg of Case Western Reserve University. It was followed by over 20,000 people worldwide, exploring how communities in transitioning economies around the world are working to enable the growth of entrepreneurship when the resources from the private sector alone are limited.

 

On the weekly meetings at the American Corner were discussed the following topics: what is the role of government, universities, business angels, accelerators, etc. in the support and development of entrepreneurship, examples from different economies, Macedonian economy were elaborated, as well as opinions what measures should be taken to introduce creative ways of supporting entrepreneurship in our country. These meetings were attended by representatives from educational, business and civil society sector.
