Training for Trainers: 10-14th June 2021, Struga, N.Macedonia

Our project is planning to integrate experiential learning into education through sports activities in order to convert the “inherent learning possibilities” of sports activities into actual learning experiences. This might be provided through training the trainers rather than training participants to become trainers. The trainers have major responsibility for the integration of the learning methodology into sports especially through designing and actualizing local implementations with young people who have fewer opportunities. Briefly, T4T plays a key role for the four main columns of the integration for the experiential learning methodology into sport activities.

The participants will be 2 trainers and 2 sports coaches totaling 4 participants from each partner. There will be 5 supervisor trainers who will design and deliver the T4T as well as supervise the trainers for their local implementation period as well.

T4T will be the first transnational meeting of the project with broad participation. It will be including planning for the capacity development of the organization and their staff through the last 8 months of the project. However, T4T plays a key role for the start of the preparation of the Tool Fair as it targets the trainers and sports coaches who will be creating and adapting the tools and methods to be presented and promoted in the Tool Fair following their pilot implementations and reports.

CEFE Macedonia is responsible for the organization of the Training for Trainers which is going to be implemented in Struga, Macedonia for 4 days (excluding travel days) with 20 participants (trainers and sports coaches) and 5 supervisor trainers from each partner. For maximum efficiency of the training, the training will be 6 hours online and 3 days (x6 hours) in person in Struga.

Accommodation will be in Hotel Solferino, Struga. Participants will be placed in double rooms and all accommodation, material, refreshment, and lodging costs will be covered by the organizer.

Tool Fair – September 2021, Istanbul, Turkey

The Mobility of Tool Fair is planned to be organized by the DeM Experiential Training Center Association.

6 participants from each partner 1 NGO manager or 1 project coordinator, 1 supervisor trainer, 4 trainers will be participating.

Tool Fair (one-day long) is placed in the European Week of Sport considering unique characteristics of our project integrating experiential learning into sports activities for skills development.

Turkey is chosen on purpose to host this Mobility of Tool Fair especially during the European Week of Sport as the EU membership process is not going very fine but there are very supportive communities for Turkey’s membership to the EU.

Furthermore, with our partners, we have planned to invite 50 local participants from Turkey who are trainers and/or sport coaches from civil society organizations and sport clubs. Tool Fair day will provide the opportunity for the participants.

Presentation of “Experiential Learning For Education Through Sports Methodology” and “Debriefing Model for Sport Activities” is included in the first sessions of the Tool Fair. Moreover, there are methods and tools to be actively implemented during the parallel workshops where newly created and/or adapted methods and tools will be applied with the participation of Tool Fair participants. 8 of the methods/tools will be the ones created and/or adapted through our project while an Open Call will be published for 8 of the learning through sport methods and tools to receive applications.

Local Implementations with Youngsters

The aim of these local training is to provide the best creation of methodology and debriefing model primarily concerning the actual needs of the young people as our target group. The creations, adaptations are planned to be done by co-creation with trainers and participant youngsters including tailor-made training modules and methods for optimal learning with sports activities.

Moreover, these implementations are planned to contribute for the development of the soft skills of young people. Target groups of partner organizations’ local implementations are people with disabilities, orphans, young people not in education, employment, or training (NEET), economical obstacles, and refugees.

In Macedonia, it is expected to be reached NEET (young people neither in education nor in training nor employment) – 10 people per trainer.

In two local implementation periods:

August – September 2021 to implement their proposed tools,

October – November 2021 to implement something after the tool fair in Istanbul

Expected improvements among participants are considered in the fields of communication skills, inclusion awareness, self-confidence, self-expression and sense of initiative considering the sports activities that our partners are implementing.

Obligations of involved trainers:

Active participation and networking with other trainers on the events in Struga.
Propose 4 tools, based on sports, per person (one energiser, exercises, team building method, one exercise for specific target people)
Implement their tools with a group of 10 people/per trainer in Macedonia.
Short report after the implementation (agenda, participants list, what happened, pictures).
Active participation and networking with other trainers on the Tool Fair in Istanbul.
Promote their 4 tools, based on sports, per person (one energiser, exercises, team building method, one exercise for specific target people) at Tool Fair.
Implement some tools that got from Istanbul with a group of 10 people/per trainer in Macedonia.
Short report after the implementation (agenda, participants list, what happened, pictures).
Signed contract with CEFE Macedonia for understanding and mutual collaboration.

Hotel Solferino Struga – The hotel is placed on the coast of Ohrid Lake surrounded by a beautiful park with plenty of green trees in town of Struga. All the rooms are with lake view. There is a modern air-conditioned restaurant with a capacity for 130 guests and suitable for all kinds of sports activities, seminars, congresses, and conferences.
